Founder steps aside

PROSPERO Girardi, co-founder of Hitec Lift Trucks, has officially announced his retirement from the business after 33 years at the helm.

Speaking on his time nurturing the business from its beginnings to its fantastic growth and acquisition, Prospero (known by most as Pros) recounts brilliant working memories and strong relationships with customers and staff:

“The decision I’ve taken to retire from Hitec Lift Trucks at the end of this year is one that hasn’t been taken lightly, but it comes at the right time both for myself and the business,” he said.

“The company I co-founded and managed has grown through the years and has left me with many fond memories. I have met some very interesting and lovely individuals, groups and businesses during that journey. There have also been many people throughout the years that have helped contribute to the success of Hitec Lift Trucks and to them I am incredibly grateful.

“Not only have I been fortunate enough to deal with some fantastic companies over the years, I’ve also been able to build some strong relationships with customers, who have stuck with Hitec no matter what. Thank you for your dedication and may there be many more years ahead.”

Along with Hitec, Pros and co-founder Andy Selbie faced many changes, including the biggest in the history of Hitec.

“In May 2018, Hitec Lift Trucks was acquired by Briggs Equipment UK.” said Pros. “I can honestly say that it was the best decision I could have made for the business and I have no regrets. The company is stronger for it and ready for its next phase of growth.

“Adam Lantsbery and I have worked hard to restructure the business in preparation for my departure and I am confident that all is in place for Adam to step up and take my place.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the team at Briggs Equipment UK, who have supported myself and the business through pre and post-acquisition, as well as our own team of engineers and office staff. You are all truly amazing and caring people.”

Adam Lantsbery has been with the company for over a decade, operating as Sales Director, and will step into the role of General Manager, following Prospero’s retirement on 1 January 2020.
