New ways of working are paying off

EXCITING times are ahead for Saxon Blinds, both in the short and long term, as the company ends a year of growth and expansion and prepares for more of the same in 2019.

The build-up to Christmas saw the Northampton firm working closely with design firm IDL Colourlink to create 470 large-format window displays for John Lewis stores across the UK.

It is projects such as this that prompted Managing Director Mark Grainger to invest recently in a second five metre by three metre commercial roller blind table. The additional table allows the company, which manufactures and installs a wide range of blinds for commercial and domestic customers, to meet the increasing demand for extra-wide heavy-duty roller blinds with chain or gear operations.

Mark said: “Looking forward to the new year I am filled with optimism because I really believe that our growth is set to continue. We saw around 15 per cent growth last year and see no reason why we can’t build on that.

“The main factor behind this growth is the increased opportunities that new technology brings. We’re a small, local company, still happily working out of our factory in Magee Street in Northampton, but we are accessible to customers from across the UK because they find us online.

“A few years ago, we would never have picked up that work with IDL, they wouldn’t have known about us. Now, geography is no limit to what you can do. We’re getting enquiries from all over the country and taking advantage of that.

“Technology also allows us to demonstrate our products better, giving the likes of builders or architects all the information they need to make a decision about whether what we do is right for them. By checking out our products and spec on the website everyone is saving time, money and fuel by avoiding unnecessary travelling and meetings. We don’t get to that stage until everyone is pretty sure we’re going to be able to work together – and that is to everyone’s benefit.”

Saxon Blinds undertakes large-scale projects in the education, leisure, commercial and industrial sectors, as well as the domestic market, manufacturing a complete range of roller, vertical, Venetian and blackout blinds for windows, roofs, skylights and atriums at its Northampton factory.
