ACTION Express is a local success story, an award winning company with an annual sales growth of 15 per cent.

The Northamptonshire business, founded in 1982 with just one van and a bike, now boasts a fleet of 35 vehicles and 49 staff members all of which work out of its premises, based in Brackmills.

A founding member of APC Overnight and a shareholder member of Pallet-Track an overnight palletised freight network, Action Express gives a local touch to a national service that is recognised within the sector with three industry awards during 2013 including the prestigious Motor Transport Network of the Year Award.

The company is still owned by Syed Ziaullah but the daily running of the business is taken care of by Managing Director Elaine Harries.  Elaine embraces the company’s core values, which involve her and the team in Northamptonshire life.

“As a local business we want to support other local businesses,” said Elaine. “Wherever we can we use services locally – the recent addition of a second Scania Tractor unit, the third tractor unit in just one year to add to our growing fleet, were all bought locally in Northamptonshire.”

Elaine has a lot of local interests including being an active committee member for  Friends of Willen Hospice and a Director of the Brackmills Business Improvement District, giving something back to the local community is a key part of her role as a business leader.

Elaine has also raised many thousands of pounds for local charities with numerous fundraising events – including a bike ride from London to Paris.

“2014 will be a very exciting time for Action Express, we are always advancing our technology to benefit our customers and there are some fantastic developments on the way involving our pallet deliveries and very precise delivery times,” said Elaine.

“Some of the Action Express team have been with the business since it started, our customer service is at the heart of the company and it is this level of service that promotes customer loyalty.  We are now looking forward to 2014 where we can continue to support existing customers and welcome new businesses to experience our exceptional service.”

Action Express has a growing team and has recently appointed Stewart Littlewood who will be its New Business Development Manager.

Stewart, who recently married and is a Saints rugby fan, is looking forward to his new role – previously working as customer service manager Stewart is now looking to score a few touchdowns for Action Express.
