With a new year comes great opportunity

By Jon Thorpe, ACS

THE past year has been bursting with innovation, change, and the odd surprise (probably best to keep quiet about those though!)

In the world of ACS the last 12 months has seen new faces added to the family, a flourishing portfolio of exciting partnerships, and new technologies empowering the increasingly flexible work styles of our team. But what does 2017 bring for all of us? I believe it is opportunity.

Opportunity – a time or set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something.

Business content today often focuses on how to overcome the challenges that new technologies, generations, and workflows can bring to our workplaces. But a few weeks ago, at the Workplace of the Future event, Pete Winkelman, Chairman of MK Dons, said something that really hit the nail on the head: “Challenge is opportunity.”

He was right. The challenges that we face as businesses, teams and individuals, are full of opportunity to evolve, improve, and grow.

Digital Transformation is a prime example of such a challenge. Devices, the cloud, as-a-service consumption and new workplace generations are causing big adjustments to how we operate our businesses and how we engage with our customers. With such a rich variety of solutions available it is important to focus on your objectives. Don’t get swept along with trends, make sure you find IT solutions that are well aligned to your business so that they can help you work smarter.

Here’s an example… if you are trying to reduce business travel costs, embracing Skype for Business will allow your users to communicate with clients seamlessly from any location. Whether it is a voice call, instant message, conference call or remote presentation, location doesn’t matter!

Then we have the security of your IT systems. Hackers are becoming deliberately more creative, and their ability to defeat security systems is a very present danger to businesses that don’t evolve to protect their systems. If you haven’t already, now is your opportunity to put risk mitigations in place. Talk to our team to arrange a free IT Security audit worth £425.

In line with the both of the above, people are spending more time turned on, connected to their devices, and potentially working. As things show no sign of slowing down it is important to pay attention to the wellbeing of our users. Here are a few tips to get you started. Make sure users are physically comfortable at their workspace, provide a variety of environments within your office for users to work in, and align your technology with your culture and office design.

If you are looking for a partner to help you embrace opportunity in 2017, talk to our team at ACS. You can call us on 01604 704 014 or email .
