PITSFORD School already knew that its A-level and GCSE results in 2014 were good, as they were in line with previous years’ results.

However, it was not until the Department of Education’s League Table Results were published recently, that the school realised how well it had performed nationally: The Government’s Value Added League Tables ranked Pitsford School sixth out of 4,303 schools in England.

This is the first time that independent schools have been included in this significant A-level league table.

The table seeks to show how well a pupil has performed compared with how well they performed in earlier tests. ie has the school added value to pupils’ expected educational outcomes, or have pupils only fulfilled their predicted ability.

According to the Department for Education, at Pitsford School, you can expect to increase each of your A-levels by 0.48 of a grade. This achievement placed only five schools in the whole of England higher than Pitsford School.

In addition, in the Government’s GCSE Average Point Score Per Pupil Table, Pitsford School was the highest achieving co-educational school in Northamptonshire achieving an average 470 points per pupil.

“These GCSE results placed Pitsford School in the top five per cent of all English secondary schools,” said the Headmaster, Noel Toone. “We feel that our excellent, committed teachers and small class sizes, really do benefit each and every one of our pupils.”
