RENOWNED expert in palliative care, Baroness Finlay of Llandaff, will share her views at the next conference being hosted by the Elderly and Vulnerable Client Unit of leading regional law firm Tollers.

The conference’s theme, The Complexities of Mental Capacity, will build on the success of the firm’s previous conferences and will once again bring together representatives from charities, local authorities, other legal firms and companies.

Keynote speaker Baroness Finlay is a renowned expert in palliative care of the dying and will be discussing her work in mental capacity and the remit and focus of the Ministry of Justice Forum which she chairs.

The Baroness heads up an impressive line-up of well-respected experts for the event on Wednesday, 8 March. These include Martin Kingerely, Barrister at 36 Bedford Row Chambers, who will be discussing the latest thinking on the Deprivation of Liberty and the Court of Protection.

Dr Keith G Jenkins, Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and Lead Psychologist Neuropsychiatry pathway at St Andrew’s Hospital in Northampton, will be speaking from the clinician’s viewpoint about the assessment of a person’s mental capacity.

Other topics will include capacity in litigation, the role of a litigation friend in court proceedings, a legal update on Court of Protection and the Office of the Public Guardian.

There will also be other speakers from Tollers at the conference which will be held at Northampton’s Hilton Hotel in Watering Lane.
