Solicitors step in with support for show

TOLLERS Solicitors are delighted to announce that they have teamed up with MHA MacIntyre Hudson as the local sponsors of Kinky Boots The Musical when the award winning show launches its first ever national tour by opening in Northampton, where the story originated, this autumn.

Kinky Boots The Musical is inspired by the true story of how a Northamptonshire-based shoe manufacturer turned their failing company around by diversifying into a niche market and producing ladies’ shoes and boots in men’s sizes for cross-dressers.

The story of how the factory was saved was originally told in the popular film Kinky Boots and then adapted into a hit musical, playing on Broadway and in the West End.

The story of Kinky Boots The Musical takes audiences from a gentlemen’s shoe factory in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Charlie Price, the shows main character, is struggling to live up to his father’s expectations and continue the family business of Price & Son. With the factory’s future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola, a fabulous performer in need of some sturdy new stilettos.

The story of Kinky Boots is one that Northamptonshire can relate to and shows the determination the local community have in times of difficulty and how a simple idea can turn the fortunes of a local business around.

Duncan Nicholson, Tollers Managing Partner, said: “Tollers have a history exceeding 140 years in Northamptonshire and have provided a wide variety of legal services to shoe manufacturers and other local businesses throughout the region. We are exceptionally proud to have the opportunity to sponsor Kinky Boots The Musical and to support the local activity being undertaken on behalf of the production.

“Northamptonshire is synonymous with British shoemaking and we are delighted to see Kinky Boots starting its national tour in the county where the story originated.”

Jo Ibbotson, Development Officer from Royal & Derngate said: “We’re really excited to have Kinky Boots coming to Northampton this autumn and we’re delighted to have support from renowned local businesses in sponsoring this joyous, fun-filled show for its run at Royal & Derngate.”

Kinky Boots The Musical opens its national tour at Northampton’s Royal & Derngate, where it can be seen from Wednesday, 19 September until Saturday, 6 October. For more information about tickets and times, contact the Box Office on 01604 624811 or visit www.royalandderngate.co.uk
