Law firm expands with arrival of two key lateral hires

Heather Palmer (left) and Kate Godber are newly arrived partners at Tollers

Tollers are delighted to announce the arrival of two new partners, Heather Palmer and Kate Godber.

Heather is a highly accomplished solicitor who, having trained at Ward Hadaway, established her own practice specialising in property law. After ten years of dealing with all aspects of property law, in 2011 Heather began to specialise on resolving issues for landowners and developers arising out of restrictive covenants, easements, rights of way, light, drainage and ransom strips.

Heather has higher rights of audience, is highly experienced in both contentious and non-contentious matters and is considered to be one of the country’s leading advisors in her fields of expertise.

In addition to routinely acting both with and against Queen’s Counsel, Heather also regularly lectures at the RICS national conferences where her understanding of the valuation principles for negotiated damages in respect of ransom strips and restrictive covenants is of particular value to the audiences.

Heather said: “I am delighted to be joining such a well established and respected regional firm like Tollers, who have the resources that will allow us to expand this highly specialised and niche area of property law.”

Kate has joined the firm’s thriving trusts and estates department. She qualified as a solicitor in 2007 and then as a chartered tax advisor in 2012. Kate’s areas of expertise include estate planning, wills, trusts, estate administration, Lasting Powers of Attorney and personal tax. With many long-standing clients, Kate is seen as a trusted advisor when it comes to providing bespoke and proactive solutions for estate and tax planning.

“Having worked both in large regional practices and latterly in a smaller boutique firm, I feel that Tollers offers me the opportunity to pass on the knowledge and experience I have gained and to develop my career further before taking it to the next level,” Kate said. “I am really excited to have become a member of the Tollers family.”

Duncan Nicholson, Tollers managing partner, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Heather and Kate have chosen to join Tollers expanding team of legal experts. Both of them bring a wealth of expertise and gravitas to our existing teams.

“As a firm we are constantly looking to strengthen for the future and this is even more so as the country emerges from the pandemic. The addition of both Heather and Kate will ensure that Tollers continues to provide the highest-calibre legal advice to the sectors and markets we serve.”

These two key appointments clearly demonstrate Tollers’ commitment to the firm’s delivery of Exceptional People, Exceptional Service and Exceptional Delivery.
