FROM recreating First World War trenches to playing a key part in the ongoing growth of world-renowned brand Jaguar Land Rover, Rolton Group can turn its hand to virtually anything.

Now in its 35th year, the Higham Ferrers based company handles a range of projects from civil engineering and infrastructure, mechanical and electrical building services, structural surveys and investigations, to energy strategy and full project management.

Current clients include BMW, EC Harris, Taylor Wimpey and Ikea, for whom the company is carrying out new builds and refurbishments, incorporating wherever possible its energy saving and environmentally sound practices.

Peter Rolton, Chairman of the group, said: “We aim to embed principles in everything we do to ensure that the focus is on energy saving and sustainable energy generation wherever possible. Dramatic changes have to be made prevent serious environmental problems and so we have a top-down policy to ensure we embrace change and get ready for the future.

“It may be new builds or refurbishments, but either way the client gets the benefit of our expertise. It is particularly important for those companies that are expanding but can’t rely on the National Grid for the level of power they need to try to implement ways of generating their own power instead.”

Funding from the Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership’s High Performance Technology fund has allowed further investment in Building Information Modelling to allow digital designs that can be tested against an array of variables. In addition, the group

has continued its policy of taking on graduate trainees across the company and offering them a structured training programme; this ensures their professional development is prioritised and that they are well-equipped to meet the high expectations of the company’s clients.

From preparing for the future to remembering the past, the Rolton Group is involved in the Lest We Forget project, a reconstruction of the trenches that were built in Britain during the First World War to assist with the training of service personnel. The scheme, in St Ives in Cambridgeshire, will form an important educational facility, tying in with the National Curriculum, whilst also opening to the general public with an enthusiasm for history.
