Farm grows into something unique

DIVERSITY is often the key to business success but few can have diversified quite as much as Avalanche Adventure in Sibbertoft.

What started off as a working farm has, for the past 15 years, developed into one of the region’s leading activity centres, offering everything from quad biking and clay pigeon shooting to archery and off-road Land Rover driving in more than 400 acres of open countryside.

Over time, the range of activities has evolved and expanded, the latest addition being DTV shredders, an all-terrain vehicle with tank treads, a skateboard deck and a four-stroke 196cc engine.

Robin Sawyer, who has overseen the growth and development of Avalanche Adventure, said: “We are constantly reinvesting in the company, adding new activities and upgrading the facilities. A couple of years ago we added a new cabin that acts as a base for groups during their visit.”

Corporate clients use Avalanche Adventure as a base for teambuilding days, either combined with meetings in the cabin, or simply to give everyone a break from the day-to-day business. Enjoying the challenge of race buggies or off-road Land Rover driving is the perfect way to get employees to bond, work together and relax and enjoy themselves away from the normal work environment. Christmas parties are increasingly popular, with companies seizing the chance to do something a little different from the traditional festive night out.

Robin added: “The cabin is ideal for meetings or a bite to eat before or after activities. Clients can book meeting space for half a day, then enjoy a bit of a challenge later on, or they can book the whole day and split the team into two, with half spending the morning in meetings or presentations while half get out and enjoy the facilities, then reversing the two groups in the afternoon.

“Teambuilding challenges such as reverse steer or blindfold driving are increasingly popular. There are many options, and we can put together bespoke packages depending on the client’s budget.”

Gift vouchers are also available from Avalanche Adventure, giving staff, friends or clients the chance to go along in their own time and enjoy their choice of activities on offer.
