Cycle ride can count on supporters

COTTONS Chartered Accountants not only sponsored but also participated in Daventry’s Cycle Sportive an event designed to get the entire community out on their bikes at the same time as supporting Cancer Research UK and the Macmillan Cancer Trust.

The Cycle Sportive, which is essentially a fun run for bicycle riders, took place in July, with routes laid out for all abilities including a 10-mile family ride and a 100-mile challenge route dubbed the Hardrada Hundred and designed for the seasoned cyclers. All routes had Viking themed names in line with the town’s Norse connections.

Cycling is a big part of Cottons Chartered Accountants in Daventry’s culture with branch Partner, Lisa Malone, who cycled to Paris in 2017 for charity and her husband, Neal, being core members of Daventry Cycling Club. It was actually Neal and fellow club member, Mike Walsh, who drove the organisation of the entire Cycle Sportive with the support of fellow members. Naturally, Neal played a key role in Cottons involvement and eventual proud sponsorship of the event.

Ross Davidson, Marketing Manager at Cottons said:”Cottons were very happy to support the event by helping to provide the start and finish markers for the routes but it was the team’s own efforts on the 30-mile ride and their ongoing promotion and support of the local cycling community which we are most proud of.”

Saffron Anouska Small of Daventry Cycling Club said: “I think we can safely say that our sportive was a massive success. Year-on-year the number of participants has grown and in turn has benefited our chosen charities, this year Cancer Research UK and Macmillian Cancer Support. It was great to see so many club members out either taking part or supporting the event behind the scenes, you don’t really appreciate how the club has grown until you see us all in one place!”

Cottons make a conscious effort to get behind community initiatives in all of its locations. To find out more about Cottons visit www.cottonsaccountants.co.uk
