AT Business Finance Services Ltd (BFS) we are constantly seeking new sources of finance for our SME clients. We have previously written in the BT about the arrival on the scene in the last few years of Crowd Funding Platforms, internet-based sites where companies seeking finance can come together with potential investors to pitch for funding. This is an increasingly popular source of finance for SME’s, and rightly so in some cases. The proliferation of Crowd Funders is, to a large extent, a reaction to the problems that many SME’s have experienced with traditional Banks in the last few years. Having said this, a certain amount of caution needs to be exercised in choosing which ‘Platform’ is suitable for a particular business. As with much of Life, everything is not always what it seems in the World of Crowd Funding. As a result we, at BFS, have spent a considerable amount of time looking at the various Crowd Funders offering services to commercial businesses. We have carefully selected a small number of these who, between them, offer a range of funding options (Loans, equity-based investment, asset-based lending etc.) for our clients. As a Sponsor our function is to review applications for funding, help the applicant company to prepare its submission for funding and, once the funding is in place, maintain a support function with the successful applicant to monitor growth and performance against plan.
