PEOPLE do business with those they know, like and trust. Fact! Great! So, where do you start with that? Well, I’ve been taking care of business in this county for almost 25 years and I can tell you honestly that for me, business networking is the one.

It works because it’s a structured and continuous approach; you are on your target customers’ radar all the time, which is vital because a buying need is often left purely to chance.

It works because it’s a structured and continuous approach; you are on your target customers’ radar all the time, which is vital because a buying need is often left purely to chance. Alongside my full-time job, I’m the Sales Manager for Knights & Hyde Office Supplies and Gemini Workplace Consumables based in Kettering, I run my own business networking groups at Beckworth Emporium and Brampton Heath Golf Centre. If you genuinely want to win new business and develop new contacts then nothing beats old-fashioned face-to-face meetings, and judging by the number of local businesses who turn up each month then it looks like the informal atmosphere of these groups really does encourage better networking. In addition, they are low-cost, low-risk, casual, supportive and, most importantly, they work.

So, a natural progression was to start up the Northamptonshire Business Expo at The Freemason’s Hall, Duston on 29 April 2014.

The event is generously sponsored by Tom Hewer Catering. Tom is the brilliance behind Frank’s Steakhouse and Hamburger House, and with credentials like that you can be sure we include a very good lunch of locally sourced goodies on the day, too.

This event will see representation from approximately 30 local companies and an array of quick-fire 30-minute seminars designed to inspire and motivate you. After all, it only takes one good idea to improve your business and these seminars are jam-packed full of them. We’ll cover every challenge and chance faced in business today to ensure there is something for everyone.

And so, while there might be many online and offline ways to keep in touch, the undeniable truth is that business flows better when we can ‘see the whites of your eyes’.
