Acquisition completed

LEADING firm of accountants, tax and business advisors MHA MacIntyre Hudson has completed the acquisition of part of Grant Thornton UK LLP’s practice in Northampton, including staff members and clients of its well-regarded medical sector and general practice teams.

A total of 10 staff members have joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson and relocated to its Northampton office at Peterbridge House, The Lakes. This includes senior manager Steve Cosford, who has been instrumental in building a strong presence in the medical sector. Steve has more than 28 years’ experience in working with GP practices, ranging from single handed practitioners through to the more recent GP Federation companies and Super Partnership mergers.

Steve said: “With so many changes in the GP sector it is essential to have a business advisor who fully understands the key issues affecting their business. My team and I are really looking forward to working with MHA MacIntyre Hudson’s existing healthcare specialist team and with our combined experience will be one of the market leaders in this sector.”

The acquisition takes MHA MacIntyre Hudson’s Northampton headcount of professional staff to 70 and demonstrates the firm’s commitment to both Northamptonshire and the healthcare sector. It further enhances the firm’s business services offering provided by the Northampton office which has recently taken on an extra 2,000 square feet of office space as part of its expansion plan.

Rebecca Hughes, Partner at the Northampton office of MHA MacIntyre Hudson, said: “This is an exciting acquisition for our office and we are delighted to welcome our new colleagues to the firm. MHA MacIntyre Hudson has a national healthcare sector team and the team joining us will boost our expertise in this area, forming part of our firm wide growth plans. Ensuring continuity of service and client relationships leaves us ideally positioned for further progression.”

Nationally, MHA MacIntyre Hudson is on a fast-growth trajectory, and has been expanding through organic growth and selective acquisitions in recent years. In the last two years it added Bloomer Heaven in Birmingham and MHA Reid Williams in Reading, and in the recently published league table of the top 50 accountancy firms it has advanced to 16th in the top 20.
