BOSWORTH Independent College is delighted to announce that a Level 3 Business BTEC second year student made it through to the finals in the Pearson 2019 BTEC Awards.
Qais, who has played such a huge part in the college for the last three years, has been awarded a Silver Runner-Up Award for BTEC Business and Enterprise Student of the Year 2019.
Bosworth’s two-year BTEC programme is the equivalent of three A-levels, with students focusing on 13 units of study, spanning a wide variety of business-related topics. Candidates submit assignments according to strict deadlines over the two-year course, building their qualification throughout the programme rather than relying on a final exam session. For students who prefer to ‘bank’ marks and avoid the stress of terminal exams, this approach is ideal. There are no end-of-year surprises, although four units are externally assessed and completed under exam conditions.
Universities value the skills that BTEC students tend to have: good communication, excellent team-working and a willingness to review and amend projects, working within strict deadlines. Qais considered offers from other Russell Group universities, including Birmingham, before accepting a place to study International Business, Finance & Economics at the University of Manchester in the autumn. Although he is awaiting formal publication of the BTEC results, the modular nature of the course means he already knows he has met the requirements of his offer.
Pearson, the awarding body that accredits BTEC, say: “We introduced Silver BTEC Awards this year for the first time to recognise and encourage nominees who made it through to the finals by demonstrating outstanding achievements and commitment through their BTEC studies which are worthy of celebration.”

He was Vice-Chairman of Bosworth’s Student Council and Chairman of Northampton’s Youth Forum. He has always been a willing mentor to others on his course and acted tirelessly and cheerfully as a Bosworth Ambassador. He certainly is a most worthy winner of this prestigious award.”
