IT has been less than a year since Expert Developments Limited, an electroplating business based in Brackmills Industrial Estate, Northampton, suffered major flood damage after a torrential and localised rain storm.
The storm, in May 2018, completely destroyed all the offices in the building and caused major disruption in the production area. Due to the extraordinary efforts and support of all the staff, combined with the patience of its many loyal customers from all over the country, some production was restarted in a matter of a few days.
Gradually over the subsequent months the business has been rebuilt, the factory and offices have been completely rewired, re-carpeted and redecorated. The business also benefits from brand new IT systems, telephones and cable broadband with its own dedicated lease-line.
Managing Director Graham Whitehouse said: “It is nearly nine months since the flood and after a lot of very hard and demanding work the business is now finally fully operational in all areas with plans for further improvements in a number of areas and processes.
“The events of the last few months have given us the opportunity to review and rationalise our processes and I believe that we are in an even stronger position now to continue to offer a complete professional electroplating and anodising service for which the company has been well known over the last 28 years.”
Expert Developments was formed in 1991, and offers a full range of surface finishes, specialising in Sulphuric Anodising with a range of coloured dyes and Chromate Conversions Alocrom 100, Alocrom 1000, Alocrom1200 and Surtec 650. In addition, a comprehensive electroplating service is available which includes gold, silver, tin, tin-lead, zinc, nickel and electroless nickel plating and passivation of stainless steels.
