Building a successful team

A NORTHAMPTON-based football team is sporting new kits and starting a reserve team thanks to home town support from Redrow.

Oakley Diamonds, who compete in the Northampton Sunday Combination league, train and play at Lings Fields, around a mile from Redrow’s South Midlands headquarters.

Ashley Spear, a trainee quantity surveyor at Redrow, who plays at right back for the club, said: “The club started in 1964 and has been run by three generations of the same family, having been started by Ronald Roberts, grandfather of our current manager Kevin Roberts. Sponsorship from Redrow has given the club a real boost. It’s also paid for two new kits and other essentials such as balls and first aid kits and enabled the club to create a reserve team.”

Players will wear Redrow branded kits for a minimum of two years under the deal.

Tonia Tyler, sales director for Redrow Homes (South Midlands), said: “Sports clubs like Oakley Diamonds help foster a sense of community and make Northamptonshire a great place to live and work. We’re keen to support community groups in the areas where we operate and so were happy to team up with the club. We wish the team every success for the 2017/18 season.”

Redrow’s South Midlands business is based at The Lakes business park in Northampton and employs circa 140 people. It builds a range of new homes throughout Northamptonshire with an emphasis on high quality family homes and has current developments in Moulton, Barton Seagrave and Wood Burcote.
