Business is flourishing for award winner

THE owner of White Mills Marina in Earls Barton says business is flourishing since winning an award at the 2018 Wellingborough Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

Debbie Skinner, owner of the family business, is encouraging others to enter this year’s accolades saying they have ‘nothing to lose and everything to gain’.

Commenting on the eight months since scooping the Services Business of the Year Award, she said: “Winning an award at the 2018 business awards boosted our confidence no end, it was such a great feeling to be recognised.

“The marina is filling up nicely with boats and there are more and more people discovering the marina and our boathouse cafe. We’ve witnessed an increase in visitors to the River Nene and are busy waving the flag for the Nene Valley.”

Entries are currently open for the fourth annual Wellingborough Chamber of Commerce business awards.

Designed to celebrate commercial success, the awards are open to all businesses across the borough, not just existing members.

Entrants need to demonstrate excellence, specifically how they have made a pioneering approach to business as well as showing a commitment to furthering the prosperity of the borough.

Debbie added: “I would encourage everyone to have a go at gaining some recognition for their business. The awards are very easy to enter. You really have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

“The breakfast awards ceremony was excellent, with inspiring speakers. It provided a wonderful opportunity to meet other like-minded people and celebrate all the hard work that is going on behind the scenes. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this opportunity.”

Businesses can enter four categories, including Services Business of the Year, Retail Business of the Year, Industry Award and Chamber Community Award.

Simon Toseland, Chamber President, said: “Entries are beginning to come in and we are looking forward to another opportunity to celebrate the success and hard work of businesses in the borough.”

Those entering the business awards need not be members of the Chamber, but their business must be situated in the borough, or show a ‘significant commercial interest’ in the area.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony Friday, 29 November.

An online entry form is available on the website www.wellingboroughchamber.co.uk

The closing date for entries is Friday, 29 September.

For more information on the awards contact the Chamber on 01933 652252.
