Cash grants available to businesses

Northampton Borough Council has started the process of rolling out additional business finance support being provided by Government during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Businesses are currently experiencing a range of significant and unprecedented pressures due to the Coronavirus pandemic and in response the Government has made available a number of financial and support packages to help during these difficult times, including:

* A 12 month business rates holiday for all retail, hospitality, leisure and nursery businesses in England. If businesses have not already received a revised bill and believe that they are entitled to the relief in accordance with the Government’s guidance they can apply for business rates relief

* Small business grant funding of £10,000 for all business in receipt of small business rate relief or rural rate relief. Businesses can submit the information needed for the council to check their eligibility and pay their grant.

* Grant funding for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses of £10,000 where the rateable value is less than £15,000, with the grant increasing to £25,000 where the rateable value is between £15,000 and £50,999. Businesses can submit the information needed for the council to check their eligibility and pay their grant.

The grants will be paid automatically where possible, but Northampton Borough Council will contact businesses if further information is required.
