Could you play Santa?

THIS Christmas Home Instead East Northants is aiming to touch the lives of older people in the community who may be lonely or might not receive a present.

The Be a Santa to a Senior scheme was started in America by Home Instead Senior Care in 2006. This started with only a few gifts being distributed to a local nursing home. Now, 11 years later, it has grown and provides over a million gifts to thousands of people across America.

Consequently, it has now been brought to the UK offices of Home Instead where the team want to bring a smile to older lonely adults who may be on their own this Christmas.

Home Instead East Northants cares for people in their own home providing care for one-hour to 24 hours a day seven days a week.

The service is aimed at those who maybe struggle with their morning routine or to get to appointments at the doctors or hairdressers. Clients can enjoy a weekly shopping trip with a caregiver who will take the stress out of the trip, driving them to the shops in comfort, pushing the trolley and carrying the shopping.

Services include companionship, personal care, home help and care for young disabled adult, as well as specialist care for those with dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Home Instead cares a lot about the community and wants to give back to those this Christmas who may not have someone, possibly providing the only gift and visit that the recipient may have this Christmas.

Se we are asking people to help make someone’s day this Christmas by joining the Be a Santa to a Senior appeal. Home Instead has a leaflet which has a tag that donors can tear off and write on it what they are giving and who it is from and then choose a gift that they would like to give to an elderly person. The leaflet will have a list of local drop off points.
