Council celebrates continued success of club

FORMER job seekers, employers and councillors gathered to celebrate the 500th person to find work with the support of the South Northamptonshire Job Club last week.

Founded by local MP Andrea Leadsom, the Job Club was taken on by South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) in 2010.

On Thursday, 29 August SNC Chairman, Cllr Rosie Herring presented Jackie Heffer with a food hamper from Towcester’s Towbury Court Fine Foods after she became the 500th person to find work with support from the Job Club.

Ms Heffer said: “My previous role had lasted ten years so it was great to get some objective advice. The Job Club is connected to a lot of businesses and it gives you real confidence something will come along when you see the long list of local jobs every week.”

Cllr Herring said the program had exceeded expectations and added: “The South Northants Job Club has adapted to the changing local market and has evolved to ensure the greatest benefits for our residents.

“I am excited to see the Job Club continue to help and support our local community and hope that we can celebrate more of these successes.”

The Job Club offers confidential advice and support on a wide range of topics to help people find their way back into work, training or education.

The Job Club takes place between 11.30am and 1.30pm, alternating between Brackley and Towcester Libraries. There is no need to book in advance.
