Energy workshop planned

SMALL businesses in Northamptonshire who want to reduce their energy costs are invited to attend a free workshop, giving practical advice on how to save money.

The session is being offered by Northamptonshire Growth Hub in partnership with the Carbon Trust Green Business Fund.

Energy costs – particularly if they are vulnerable to fluctuations – can be one of the biggest expenditures for a business and controlling them can be key to making an enterprise profitable.

Malcolm Johnston, Head of Enterprise at Northamptonshire Growth Hub, said: “Controlling costs is essential for any business and that’s why we’ve included this workshop in our portfolio of free events that are available to small businesses in the county.

“The feedback we receive from businesses shows that managing energy costs can be a real challenge and this workshop gives some very practical advice on how it can be achieved.”

The workshop will look at the main areas where energy is consumed such as heating, lighting and equipment.

It will also examine how energy use can be managed, provide advice on understanding energy bills and look at how behavioural change can result in significant savings.

Additionally the session will demonstrate how the Carbon Trust Green Business Fund can provide direct funded support through energy assessments, training and a financial contribution towards buying energy saving equipment.

The workshop will take place on Wednesday, 1 November between 9am and 12 noon at the Icon Innovation Centre in Daventry.
