Enjoy yourself

BUILDING  a business can be a serious occupation, so a networking group that prides itself on adding a touch of wit and humour to proceedings is always more than welcome.

At The Business Club Northants, the motto is Enjoy Building Your Business, and CEO Mike Willis takes his role of ensuring everyone has a good time very seriously.  The membership were given a clear indication of what to expect at the first meeting in 2007 when Mike donned a fez to do his Tommy Cooper impression.

“I save that one for the annual charity fundraiser now, but it got people’s attention at that first meeting.

“I save that one for the annual charity fundraiser now, but it got people’s attention at that first meeting. I still believe that a networking meeting works better if there’s a few jokes and a bit of laughter,” said Mike. “We deliberately hold meetings at the end of the working day when people are much more relaxed and engage with each other in a friendly atmosphere.”

The Business Club Northants boasts a diverse membership ranging from start-ups to a global company with 800 employees. Meetings are well-attended meetings and take place on three different evenings a month around the county at quality venues. Each month the club offers both business networking and the opportunity to hear excellent speakers on various subjects.

In addition, CEO Mike Willis holds an induction training session each month, and membership also delivers access to a pool of contacts, social events and a database of fellow members.

Mike Willis said: “For a small company, the cost of being a member of The Business Club Northants works out to around about the same as a cup of coffee a day – excellent value when you think of the opportunities it gives you to let other people in the business community know who you are and what it is you do.

Guests are welcome to attend for a £15 fee and will enjoy a hot meal in a very friendly atmosphere.

Associate companies include ACS, Stanair Industrial Doors, DBfB Communications, Home Instead, Business Times, The Fuel Card Group, Davis Optometrists, Northampton Town FC and Eldraw Video Productions.
