Enjoying the great outdoors

THERE will be some very excited girls at Northampton High School in September as the school’s fantastic new development of its outdoor space takes place over the summer holiday.

The Nursery will benefit from a much larger outdoor area, taking over the entire courtyard space. The area will be resurfaced with a rubber safety surface and will incorporate new equipment to further develop the girls’ physical development.

The reception class covered area will also be resurfaced and include a beautiful stage area for performing and a traversing wall.

The back playground will look very different when the Reception and Year 1 area is resurfaced and a new climbing frame is installed and the Year 2 and 3 area will become an astroturf play area which can also be used for hockey and netball by the younger girls.

Many of the classrooms will benefit from new outdoor learning areas, so that girls can further improve their understanding of the environment. Year 4, 5 and 6 recently had the trim trail installed, but they are not forgotten in this project, as the school intends to increase the size of the front of school playground by moving the fence closer to the school gate and adding a wider range of play activities for the girls. Needless to say, there will be some very happy faces come September.

To see Northampton High School for yourself, Open Days are to be held on Saturday 26 April and Friday 2 May 2014. Find out more at www.northamptonhigh.gdst.net or call 01604 765765.
