A THRIVING lettings and management property company is growing through the enterprising spirit of its owner.

Ausra Uzukauskaite, the driving force behind Amber Properties, is using her extensive experience to offer a service which meets the individual needs of clients.

Since opening for business in May 2012 the Northampton-based company has a growing list of clients who value Ausra’s hands-on approach.

The entrepreneur has come a long way in the eight years since she arrived in this country at the age of 18. Her lack of English did not hold back the determined teenager who, after taking on a packing job in a warehouse, successfully applied for a degree course in Business and Management at the University of Northampton.

She worked to fund her part-time studies, improved her language and business skills and in 2009 secured her first job in the property industry with Hamiltons Residential Lettings.

Ausra said: “I started off as an administrator working for Kay Willoughby and within six months was promoted to property manager. Kay was very supportive and a great teacher and when I started working for her I realised that this industry is my passion.”

Kay’s retirement and changes within the business meant a rethink for Ausra in 2012.

“I realised at that point it was now or never so decided to open my own lettings agency and use my experience to offer a service which I knew would be appreciated by clients,” said Ausra, who graduated with an honours Bachelors degree in Business and Management.

A supportive bank, impressed by the business plan from Ausra, who admitted to having no savings, enabled her to open her offices.

She said: “It has been a challenge but I am very proud of the trust and relationship I have with clients.”

The sudden death of her father ten months ago did test Ausra’s resilience but her list of clients is growing through recommendations who are impressed with the company’s personal service.

Ausra said: “Clients will never have to deal with different departments or call centres, with no knowledge of their property or arrangements. It is paramount to our company values. We build long-lasting, prosperous business relations with all our landlords and tenants.”
