Exciting new developments

WT Transport has entered an exciting new phase in its development after moving to a smart new headquarters in Northampton.

The operator has relocated to the £15million hub on the town’s Brackmills Industrial Estate which was opened in March by TPN – THE Pallet Network. WT Transport has covered the Milton Keynes postcodes for TPN since it became a member in 2015.

The new facility has 164,000 square feet of internal operational space and the capacity for 8,000 pallets a night. WT Transport Managing Director Warren Tattersall said: “We’ve taken 40,000 square feet, which is more than double the amount we had at our previous base and gives us a great platform for further growth.”

Warren founded WT Transport in 1997 and ran only vans until 2009, when he acquired his first truck, a 7.5-tonne Mercedes-Benz Atego. This marked the beginning of a period of strong, sustained expansion for the general haulier, which today runs a modern fleet of 40 rigid trucks and tractor units and 13 vans, suited to all general haulage services but also capable of meeting a range of specialist requirements.

The Sprinter and Vito vans provide a courier service that can react at a minute’s notice for any last-minute or overnight special deliveries.

Warren Tattersall said: “Haulage forms the majority of our workload and, after 20 years in the business we consider ourselves specialists in the field, but we’re also proud of the warehousing facilities we offer, particularly with the move to new premises, which have massively increased our capacity.”

From the new premises in Gowerton Road, WT Transport offers a complete warehousing and fulfilment service, working closely with clients to find solutions to all manner of logistics problems.

Within the last 12 months, WT Transport has increased the number of pallets it handles each night by 25 per cent, servicing the MK postcode for The Pallet Network and providing deliveries and collections from across the region, including all NN postcodes, to Milton Keynes, Bedford, Buckingham and the surrounding area.

Being a member of The Pallet Network Ltd allows the firm to offer a service that ensures goods are delivered by a thoroughly vetted local company with sound knowledge of the area, but with ease of access to more than 120 depots throughout the UK and Ireland. This means offering quarter, half and full pallet rates and a range of delivery options including next-day and economy rates. Track and trace technology allows customers to see where their consignments are at any stage of the journey. With use of an Epod, digital signatures can be seen on the track and trace system as soon as the goods have been signed for, generating real time information and proof of delivery and management reports where required.

“We can provide long or short-term warehousing with racked or bulk storage,” said Warren. “My approach has always been a ‘can do’ attitude where we work with our customers to find the solutions that suit them best. They know that their goods are safely and carefully stored until they or their customers need them, and we provide container de-stuffing and pick and pack facilities.

“We’ve recently achieved FORS Bronze accreditation, which is an indication of the standards we work to, and that backs up the pride we take in the quality of service we offer to customers.”
