Fabulous treats prove a roaring success

BUDDING bakers and foodie fakers from Linden Homes Midlands have raised over £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Care through a charity coffee morning and cake sale in Northamptonshire.

A fantastic array of fabulous treats was donated for colleagues and visitors to enjoy at the Buckby Grange development in Burton Latimer, as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Care – which resulted in an amazing £1,040 being raised for the charity.

According to figures from Macmillan Cancer Support – this is enough to fund a nurse to provide a week of end-of-life care for a patient.

Linden Homes Midlands’ Managing Director Trevor Dempsey and sales director Sam Hart joined members of the land, construction and production teams at the development, alongside award-winning site manager Piet Cloete and sales executives Eileen Irwin and Suzie Hargreaves at the event.

Branded cupcakes and mugs of tea and coffee were enjoyed by colleagues across the board, including site staff who spent their tea break in the sales and marketing suite, all donating to the cancer care charity for their refreshments.

Donations also poured in from local companies including, Maypine Groundworks, Normanton Roofing Ltd, Taylor Rose Solicitors and the team from New Homes Mortgage Helpline.

Local supermarkets Sainsbury’s and Morrisons donated sweet and savoury treats which were auctioned off.

Eileen said: “The event was a roaring success. We really wanted to raise a very ambitious £1,034 which I was told would pay for a whole week’s care by a Macmillan nurse. To exceed that was amazing, and it really was a team effort between the sales and our wonderful site team – and of course all the Linden Homes staff and other supporters who donated.”

The company recently invited Ellen Finn, Macmillan Cancer Support regional fundraising manager for Northamptonshire, to collect a cheque at the Buckby Grange development.

Similar events held at the Peterborough head office, developments in Bedfordshire and Cawston added to the proceeds, with around £1,500 being raised for the charity.
