Familiar face pays a visit

A DAVENTRY labels firm found that customer service came with an extra kick recently, when its forklift training provider, Pegasus Lift Truck Training, arrived on site with a special guest.

Pegasus, a locally based company, offers a comprehensive range of training courses in every aspect of materials handling equipment. Training carried out by a team of highly qualified instructors is mainly delivered on clients’ own premises to allow tailoring to specific job loads, giving the trainees familiarisation on the trucks they are going to be using.

When instructor, Karl Hinde turned up at Multi Color in Daventry recently, he had a special observer with him, his stepson and Northampton Saints joint captain Alex Waller, much to the delight of Cheryl Wilcox, Production Office & Costing Manager, who is a proud Saints fan.

Dawn Girardi, Co-owner of Pegasus Lift Truck Training, said: “Karl, our most recent trainer, has been with us a while now and we have got to know Alex, who was keen to return the support he’s had from Karl over the years and find out more about what he does at work. We knew Cheryl watched the Saints regularly and her son is a big fan, so we asked Alex along to meet the team and find out more about forklift trucks.

“Our approach to customer service is to get out and meet people. For me, if I’ve been to a client’s premises and learnt about their business and how they operate, it helps to devise training programmes specifically designed with their needs in mind.

“Time is extremely limited for busy personnel in every company yet valued two-way business partnerships mean so much more when you can put faces to names. In a world where so much can be done by email or remotely, it’s important to build those relationships. Doing business with someone you’ve got to know and who knows you is so much easier and gives the knowledge and understanding of why we need to be flexible and reactive to our customer’s needs. Everything must slot into place with their workloads. It’s a very valuable part of our service”

Dawn, who owns the company with her husband, Giuseppe (known to everyone as Pepe), has 25 years worth of experience in all areas of forklift sales, hire, servicing and finances, while Pepe is always on hand to help with health and safety questions and new forklift recommendations, alongside the training. Giuseppe and our other trainers continue to receive exceptional Itssar (Independent Training Standards Scheme and Register) Accreditation results with their annual monitoring.
