IN early October, Fermac took delivery of two new Scania R450 LA6x2/2MNA Toplines fitted with Hendrickson lightweight axles.

Fermac have over 30 years’ experience in the agricultural and industrial bulk tipping sector moving in excess of one million tonnes a year. However their two new vehicles, supplied by TruckEast Ltd., were designed to serve a greater purpose.

Fermac began supporting the Air Ambulance eight years ago by making an annual donation in lieu of sending Christmas cards.

For the last six years, Fermac have sported the Air Ambulance logo on their trailers, but for the first time, they have extended this branding to their tractor units. It was at the Northampton Transport Engineer Group’s annual charity dinner, a fellow supporter of the Air Ambulance charity, that Matthew Hughes, Transport Director of Fermac, decided to develop the idea of adapting the two vehicles that were already on order with TruckEast, as part of a fully integrated design.

TruckEast are strong supporters of the Air Ambulance charity, and work to raise awareness and funds for the cause, making a significant donation at the handover of the vehicles to Fermac. The livery for these two particular vehicles was completed by Kurt Hobbs Coachworks through TruckEast, and integrated both Fermac and WNAA branding, by changing the colour of the Fermac logo and working within WNAA brand guidelines, ensuring even the smallest details were dealt with.

Tracy Grunwell National Partnership Manager with WNAA said: “The trucks looks absolutely fantastic and it means our charity will be seen by many people across the country as they make their way up and down the motorway network. We’re really grateful to Fermac for their ongoing support as we receive no Government or National Lottery funding, support like this from organisations such as Fermac is absolutely invaluable in helping to keep our lifesaving service in the sky.”

Matthew Hughes, Transport Director of Fermac, added: “Fermac are proud to be associated with such a worthwhile cause. It’s reassuring to know that the Air Ambulance professionals are on call 365 days a year if a situation arose where their skills and speedy response were required. With no government funding, Fermac feel it’s very important to support and raise awareness of the Air Ambulance charity. Once the decision was made to livery both the trucks and trailers in the Air Ambulance livery, the assistance from TruckEast and Kurt Hobbs Coachworks was invaluable and very much appreciated. The trucks look absolutely stunning. So whenever you see these trucks, please text ‘FLY’ to 70080 to continue to help save lives and keep the Air Ambulance in the skies.”
