ROUTE 1’s one-stop shop has successfully passed an early challenge after the team took on a commission to process thousands of polling cards for the European elections
It was ‘all hands to the pump’ with the Haines family working alongside their employees to ensure they could deliver to the client’s tight deadline.
The job came just weeks after the company made the move to new premises at Spinney View on Northampton’s Round Spinney Industrial Estate.
This was made possible by the recent sale of their successful mailing operation, started some 35 years ago by Richard and Viv Haines. It has given the management team an opportunity to focus on Route 1’s key services – couriers, recruitment, storage and fulfilment.
Route 1 Fulfilment is there for clients who require storage, pick and pack, fulfilment and any type of hand assembly that may be required working to need exacting standards.
Route 1 Express can provide a courier to handle the smallest time critical package to a multi-pallet ‘ready to go’, same-day delivery including delivery of chilled and frozen food.
Route 1 Recruitment supplies staff in the food industry, logistics, warehouse and driving sectors.
The Route 1 businesses, which all come under the Haines Holding group, started seven years ago when director Jade Haines saw a need for a courier service. She now works alongside husband Lee, who is Group Commercial Director, and her in-laws as her father-in-law Richard is the Group Managing Director.
Sectors like the food industry have demanding standards which is where Route 1’s one stop shop approach makes all the difference, with time-sensitive products from pineapples to halloumi being packed and despatched to tight deadlines.

“Our ‘can-do’ attitude and hands on approach has meant that when we get an enquiry, we might not offer the service but can look at ways of making it happen and bespoke something that will work for the client.”
