Fund will make a positive difference

JEFF’S Way, launched in honour of Jeff Whitaker of Whitco Catering & Bakery Equipment, aims to help young people develop and grow into a generation of adults that make a positive difference.

Jeff, who died in January, built a business and a reputation as a gentleman. The Thrapston-based company he set up in 1995 grew into one of the leading suppliers of catering equipment and kitchen design service in the UK.

A former Sea Cadet, Jeff then trained in catering at Hull College, and took those skills with him when he joined the catering teams of the merchant navy. In that role, and through his lifelong love of the sea and being on or near the water, he saw first hand the invaluable work the Royal National Lifeboat Institution does to save lives at sea.

Now those three important parts of Jeff’s life will benefit from donations made in his name via Jeff’s Way, founded by his family and friends.

Jeff’s wife Vita Whitaker, a director at Whitco, said: “To celebrate his passion for life and to continue his legacy of making a positive difference, we have created Jeff’s Way as our continuous commitment to honouring three causes close to Jeff’s heart: education, opportunity and security.

“Young people are our future. Our aim is to help them to benefit from education, opportunity and security. In this way they can grow, thrive and develop into a generation of adults that make a positive difference.”

This year, donations made to Jeff’s Way, will be divided equally between the Sea Cadets, the development of young catering talent and the RNLI.
