Getting the lowdown on fundraising

A CHARITY in Northampton has received much-needed funds from county networking group The Business Club Northants.

The group chose The Lowdown, a charity that provides help and advice for young people, as its charity of the year and recently presented a cheque for £1,125 to the charity’s representative Ellie Blackwell.

The money was raised through various events including The Business Club Northants’ annual golf day, social events and regular collections at meetings, including a fine box for those members to overstep the allotted 30 seconds per meeting in which they tell other guests about their business.

CEO Mike Willis said: “We don’t believe in formal meetings and we have a lot of fun throughout the year and we like to do what we can to raise money for local good causes.

“The Lowdown is a charity that does excellent work within Northampton and we are delighted to have been able to help them continue to do that.”

The Lowdown offers a free and confidential drop in service six days a week to children and young adults in distress or experiencing crisis.

It provides information, advice and counselling tailored to individual needs.
