Giving back never goes out of style

STAFF from throughout Levi Strauss’ European retail business got together to volunteer at Cynthia Spencer Hospice’s Donation Station in Moulton Park, Northampton to help generate income to support patient and family care throughout the county.

Over 40 members of staff from throughout the UK and as far afield as Norway, Denmark and Sweden came together for Levi’s annual Community Day which the global business dedicates to helping good causes and this year the region chose to support the hospice.

Miriam Lambaek, Retail District Manager Levi’s Denmark – Norway – Iceland said: “This is our annual community day so it’s a big day for our company. It’s actually the first time our retail stores have joined one of these volunteering days so working with the local team here in the UK, we decided that we wanted to support Cynthia Spencer and put our large group of around 45 people to the best possible use helping out in the Donation Station.

“Our teams are super engaged and have actively sought out opportunities to be part of community days. They want to roll their sleeves up, take part in some good work and meet the teams who work for such amazing causes like Cynthia Spencer to fully understand how the charity serves the local community. It’s been a fantastic day and lots of fun and I think everyone will leave with a good feeling that they have contributed to something big.”

Staff worked in groups focusing on different areas of income generation from processing donated items for sale in Cynthia Spencer Hospice’s three retail shops in Northampton, assessing, photographing and listing higher value items for sale on eBay, upcycling furniture for sale and creating handmade gifts, jewellery and accessories for the charity’s Made With Love brand.

John Helm, Fundraising Manager at Cynthia Spencer Hospice said: “The group from Levi’s were brilliant. Every member of the team engaged thoroughly with our fundraising mission and the vital work that our charity supports and the energy throughout the day was fantastic. The smiles on everyone’s faces and the positivity amongst the group were clear signs that they all got a great deal of satisfaction and enjoyment from digging in and helping such an important local cause. On top of the amazing day’s work the team put in, Levi’s have also confirmed a donation of $3,000 for which we are incredibly grateful.
