Giving smaller businesses an advantage

TO simplify the idea of unified communications, think of Google. As a search engine, you can find the answers to your questions within the blink of an eye, but think about Gmail, Docs, Calendar, Hangouts and the use of a Google account for instant messaging; you can even place phone calls.

This is a really simple way of thinking about unified communications; you have all of these systems at your fingertips seamlessly integrated into one, easy to use interface.

We recently attended a roadshow by our partners, Gamma. They showed some very interesting stats and it was clear to see that businesses with less than 50 users are taking advantage of cloud-based technology like unified communications (48 per cent) versus, the larger businesses of 250+ employees (17 per cent).

It was eye-opening to see this and it shows us that smaller businesses are positioned to be more agile than their larger counterparts. So, how can your business benefit from unified communications?

Flexibility is the main reason as it gives staff the access they need wherever they are which is ideal for remote workers and travelling sales teams. Information flows freely throughout the business which allows workflows to be managed closely and it gives the opportunity for staff to work through different mediums.

The most significant benefit that has been noticed is the environmental impact which has resulted in cost saving.

It has been found that on average 46 per cent of companies that have utilised unified communications, have travel savings of more than five days per employee annually. Not to mention the travel and subsistence costs associated with that travel. Naturally, this cuts a business’s carbon footprint, too.

The beauty of unified communications is that the upheaval is fairly minimal you should begin to notice the effects almost immediately, as your business becomes more flexible and productive.

At BTT, we work with a number of partners who offer unified communication platforms. We are happy to provide free demos to all interested parties.
