Golf day raises funds for homelessness charity

WILSON Browne Solicitors have donated over £4,500 to the Hope Centre, a Northampton based charity for the homeless.

Having previously run a number of corporate golf days, the firm chose instead to donate the typical cost of a golf day to a nominated charity. Guests made further contributions via the entry fee, and the pot of money was increased by the generosity of clients and contacts who made donations in the form of items for auction, challenges such as ‘beat the pro’, and other activities.

The venue was Collingtree Park Golf Club who contributed greatly to the smooth running, ensuring that everyone was well looked after – no doubt, it will be the venue of choice next year.

Andrew Kerr, Head of the Corporate & Commercial Law Team said: “My Partners and I worked with Wayne Jenkins, our Business Development & Marketing Director and together we agreed that we could fulfil the same objective of showing our appreciation for our clients and contacts, whilst raising money for a good cause. The golf day was historically for our business clients and I was happy to see the firm take up the reins and help the event evolve into something with a far greater reach. I am hugely impressed with the way our business contacts embraced the event and donated willingly and freely throughout the day. All of the Commercial Law team are delighted with the outcome and our new Head Of Employment, Jennie Jahina, has told me how fantastic she thinks it is that our clients have been so supportive.”

The eventual winners were the team from Cobley Desborough, with Bob Kerr winning Nearest the Pin; longest drive was Jason Williams; and Bill Saxby won Beat the Pro.

The evening dinner and presentation was attended by Adrian Pryce, Chairman of The Hope Centre, who gave an impassioned speech about the plight of the homeless and the work that the centre does to help them.

“Our clients and business contacts have been superb – it’s great that we can have a bit of fun and raise a good sum of money for a deserving local charity at the same time: something that all of the Partners from Wilson Browne have been tremendously supportive of. We’re grateful to Mitch Eadie from the Saints for giving up his own time to come and add a little bit of sparkle and hope he is fully recovered soon!”
