INVESTMENT of just over £300,000 this year is paying off for Wellingborough foam conversion company Foam Techniques as the order book and turnover continue to expand.

The Booth Drive company has installed a new Contour Cutting Machine and purchased a new fork lift reach truck and two new lorries, which increase its efficiency and the service it can offer to its customers.

The company specialises in foam products for a host of applications, from acoustic foams for the aerospace industry and gensets, thermal foam for industrial ventilation systems, seals and gaskets for automotive industry, parts for white goods industry, filters for the medical sector, through to sponges for domestic cleaning and home decorating.

Orders from companies across the world, including ever-increasing demand for components for a large American manufacturer have also led to an increase in staffing, with Foam Techniques looking to employ 11 new people to cope with the increasing workload.

“We have spent a lot of time on the development of new products for customers, sourcing the appropriate foams and putting systems in place to produce the finished product and along with the investment in infrastructure, it’s paying off,” said Vinay Relan, the company’s Managing Director and Executive Chairman.

“We’re about to be awarded ISO 14001, which reflects our approach to the environment and cutting our carbon footprint. At the moment, we are looking into an automatic laminating process that will significantly decrease the amount of VOC emissions leaked into the atmosphere. That’s good for us and the environment, but it also has a knock-on effect for our customers, who want to know that their products are produced in an environmentally friendly fashion.

“These are exciting times for us and it’s all down to the dedication of the great team we have here. People are so important to any business and when you have the right people with the right attitude, it makes all the difference.”
