Hard work and talent recognised

TWO Daventry women working for a growing global logistics firm based in Crick have been promoted to more senior roles within the company, and are encouraging more women to consider roles within the logistics and warehousing industry.

Aliona Sturza and Jo Lawlor both started with Crick-based NX Group in the last three years, and have risen from administrators to Warehouse Supervisor and Account Manager respectively in that time, following recognition of their hard work and talent for organisation and management.

The NX Group employs 10 women as part of its 70 strong workforce, and is looking to increase this figure as the business continues to expand.

Jo heads up a team of six women in the firm’s customer services office. She said: “The role I’ve taken on is constantly busy and varied, with no two days ever the same, which is what I love about it. I’ve worked in other sectors, including education, but this is the industry where I feel most valued and find most rewarding.

“Logistics is a growing sector, and I’ve noticed that gradually more and more women are coming on board, but it still needs to improve. I feel quite lucky to be with The NX Group, as everyone working here is considered part of a family.”

Aliona also joined the firm as an administrative assistant but within a few months had secured the Warehouse Supervisor role. She said: “When I started I was the only woman in the warehouse but I soon progressed because I like everything to be arranged and handled properly and efficiently.

“I now have an administrator helping me, and I think the company wants to bring on more women as it continues to grow, which I think would be great. I find The NX Group interesting to work for because we offer the full logistics package to our customers, from picking and packing to secure storage and courier delivery.”

Neil Powell, Managing Director of The NX Group, said: “Both Jo and Aliona have proved to be excellent employees since they started, and we want to train and provide opportunities to all staff at The NX Group who demonstrate hard work and dedication. We’re proud of all our employees, and as we expand our business we hope to bring more quality staff on board.”

The NX Group is a comprehensive suite of supply chain solutions for businesses that require an extra level of quality and care for their products. Based in the golden triangle of logistics in Northamptonshire, its distribution, warehousing and courier divisions have grown year on year, thanks to its emphasis on quality, security and safety.
