Helping business growth

THE digital marketing and cloud development agency Toru Interactive have been on the Ready2Grow Project since September last year, and in that short period they have accelerated their growth both in sales and job creation.

After attending a series of four growth-focused workshops and receiving follow up one-to-one support from Northamptonshire Growth Hub Business Adviser, Mark McGowan, Toru Interactive’s Managing Director Sean Toru and his expanding team have taken their own innovative approach to create a powerful sales tool for their business, using their core skills in software development and design.

The support received from the Ready2Grow project prompted Sean to take a more creative approach in reviewing his company’s processes, and this resulted in the creation of an exciting project that utilised the team’s technical and creative skill set to strengthen an important area of any young business: a powerful technology- based sales and marketing tool.

Sean identified that in order to grow the business further he would need to develop a web app that would automate as much admin work as possible as well as playing a strategic role by using machine learning to identify prospective growth opportunities. He also needed the process to be cost effective and achievable, using Toru Interactive’s internal technology and knowledge of cloud infrastructure in a creative yet efficient way. According to Sean ‘the ultimate goal is that everything that can be automated is automated’.

Sean describes his experience of the Northamptonshire Growth Hub’s Ready2Grow project:

“The Growth Hub has made a very quick and positive impact on the way we think about and go about our business. We’ve attended a series of group workshops and one-to-one meetings that have helped us to significantly improve our sales and marketing processes as well as helping us to develop our business plan and identify opportunities for near and long-term growth. We’ve also made valuable connections with other local business leaders and have been made aware of funding opportunities that otherwise would have passed us by. It’s a thumbs up for the Growth Hub!”

The project had an immediate impact in terms of additional job creation; four graduates from the University of Northampton have worked with Toru, including Aine Poole who is currently Head Developer. The university is a partner within the Northamptonshire Growth Hub, and the lead partner in the Ready2Grow project, which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

We are delighted to have provided support to Toru Interactive, and firmly believe that the ongoing success of this young and creative software agency is a testament to the collaboration between the Northamptonshire Growth Hub and locally-based SMEs.
