One of the more recent types of funding that has become available to SMEs goes under the general name of crowdfunding (or Peer2Peer Lending).
In simple terms crowdfunding is a form of alternative financing. It is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising monetary contributions from a large number of people. In other words, it is a vehicle through which businesses and individuals can invest, online, in other businesses and projects – so it is useful both to investors, and those who need investment.
Recently, we have realised, however, that, whilst many people have heard of crowdfunding as a means of financing businesses, many do not fully understand how it works. In view of this we will be holding an information event, with two or more of the UK’s leading crowdfunding operators, in Northampton starting at 4pm on Tuesday, 20 September.
The intention is to help interested parties to gain a better idea of what crowdfunding is about, how it works and who it benefits.
