A NORTHAMPTON-based recruitment professional is celebrating after collecting a major trade award from TV impressionist Alistair McGowan at a glitzy London ceremony.

Anna Thomas, a recruiter at Universal Personnel, who are based on York Road in Northampton, was nominated and selected as Office Support of the Year in The Recruit Venture Group Recruitment Awards, which featured competition from employees at nearly 50 other independent recruitment agencies across the UK.

Anna was nominated by Universal Personnel's Managing Director Simon Simfield, who praised her positive contribution to the business and excellent work ethic.

"Anna is a really important member of the Universal team," Simon said. "Recruitment is a high pressure environment and when you are always working to tight deadlines, you need people in your business who can keep calm and keep the wheels turning; Anna is someone who can do exactly that.

"I nominated Anna because she always goes above and beyond to ensure everyone in the office has what they need to do their job.

"Anna is key to the success of our business and plays a vital role in the day to day running, so I am really proud to see her rewarded for their efforts."

The judges were David Head, CEO of industry publisher Recruitment International, and Paul Mizen, Managing Director of The Recruit Venture Group, which launches and supports new recruitment business start-ups in a joint venture model.

It is partnered with 46 independent recruitment businesses up and down the UK, including Universal Personnel.

Commenting on Anna's award, David Head said: "Anna's nomination really stood out because you could see just how important she was to the smooth running of Universal Personnel.

"At the centre of every great team is that person who can keep the wheels turning and keep others calm when things get tough, we felt Anna was a leading example of what the judges were looking."
