Introduction to college education

By Fiona Pocock

Principal

Bosworth College

TEACHING is under way at Bosworth Independent College and autumn is upon us. We have welcomed students back after the summer holidays and our comprehensive and friendly induction programme is complete.

At Bosworth we pride ourselves not only on academic success, but on pastoral care for our students, offering small class sizes (an average of eight) and a high staff-to-student ratio. Our induction programme allows students to settle in, communicate with staff, meet their personal tutor and understand their subject choice and timetable.

This year we welcomed our new Year 9 cohort, who have settled in to life at Bosworth. High demand for Year 9 led us to extend our GCSE options to offer a three-year programme, following recent curriculum changes. Year 9 can choose from a wide variety of subjects, allowing them to explore their options before specialising.

In November we will open our doors. If you would like to find out more, come along to our Open Evening on 15 November from 7pm. The evening will offer you the opportunity to meet me, as well as our teachers, current student ambassadors and support staff. Our staff will be on hand to discuss subject and course options, as well as giving you the chance to discover what we can offer in terms of a supportive and caring environment, tailored to help your child reach their academic potential.

With 83 per cent achieving A* to C at A-Level and over 30 per cent of this year’s candidates awarded A* or A grades in at least three A-Level subjects, we have an excellent academic record.

If you are considering your future options for Year 9, GCSE, BTEC, or A-level, or if you wish to learn more about applying to university or how UCAS works, then come along and find out what Bosworth can offer. Choosing the right combination of subjects can be critical for your academic future and it’s important to be properly informed. Bosworth has a strong track record of placing students on competitive university courses and our experienced staff are keen to share their knowledge with you.

Join us from 7pm on 15 November at Bosworth Hall, 33 St. George’s Avenue, Northampton, NN2 6JA. In addition, the admissions team are open for enquiries all year round. If you think Bosworth could be the right option for your child, contact us on 01604 235090 to arrange a visit.
