Keeping strong links with the local community

I WAS really pleased to be asked recently to judge the SME Northamptonshire Awards.

The judging took place on 19 July and I was honoured to be sitting amongst some of the great business leaders of Northamptonshire.

It was made even more amazing by the quality of entries; it is very encouraging to see such a diverse range of businesses within our county doing so well, with great stories to tell.

One of the categories I helped to judge was Community Business of the Year.

The judging took place on 19 July and I was honoured to be sitting amongst some of the great business leaders of Northamptonshire.

One of the categories I helped to judge was Community Business of the Year.

It was great to see what these successful businesses were giving back to the community they work within.  It made me think about the work we do, raising money for charity and supporting the local area.

Based in the town centre Chelton Brown are big supporters of the Town Centre BID (Business Improvement District). We pay into the scheme but also support, Northampton in Bloom; we have Christmas trees on the building during the festive season and hanging baskets throughout the summer.

We try to follow the town centre themes with our window displays. The beach is always a favourite.

We are long-time supporters of The Cynthia Spencer Hospice and this year we are sponsoring the medals for Cycle4Cynthia which this year is on 25 September at Holdenby House. We will have a support team at the finish line, do a raffle to raise funds and a team of fit Chelton Brown staff will be riding to raise even more money for the fantastic charity and the work they do.

However, the icing on the cake or should I say the glitter on the shoes for me, is that I have been asked to take part in Strictly Northampton this year. The chosen charity for the event is the Teenage Cancer Trust, who do fantastic work for young people with the disease so many of us know about only too well.

I will be looking for your support to raise funds for this nearer the time.

To keep up to date with what Chelton Brown are doing and the community and charity work we do follow us on Twitter @CheltonBrownLtd and like us on Facebook. You will see it is not all about lettings and sales, we give regular updates about what we are all up to.
