Letting agent is awards finalist

A NORTHAMPTON letting agent is in the running for a Young Business Person of the Year award.

Ausra Uzukauskaite, who is 29 and runs Amber Properties, impressed the judges of the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards with her ‘high degree of entrepreneurship, creativity and vision for the future’. They also recognised the significant growth of Amber Properties in the last 12 months, which has seen an almost 50 per cent increase in profits, a new, bigger office opening on 2 October, investment in a new website and other technology, and the launch of sister company Amber Renovations.

Ausra is originally from Lithuania and moved to England in 2006, unable to speak the language, and started working in a warehouse. She then taught herself English and put herself through a Business and Management degree at the University of Northampton. It was after graduating that she started working for a letting agent and found her passion. Then, at the tender age of 24, Ausra established her own lettings business Amber Properties.

“Even though Amber Properties has been going for five years, the last 12 months have seen phenomenal growth and a period of real change,” said Ausra.

“To be named as a finalist has made me stop and think about how far I have come and I can’t help but feel proud of myself. I absolutely love what I do and love helping people, so when you love what you do it’s not a job.”

Ausra will find out how she gets on when the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards final takes place at the Mercure Daventry Court Hotel on Wednesday 25 October.
