Literary line-up, read all about it

TICKETS for the impressive line-up at this year’s Althorp Literary Festival are now on sale.

Over the weekend of 5-7 October, more than 30 bestselling authors, writers, entrepreneurs and thought leaders will be at Northamptonshire’s famous venue, providing entertainment, debate and enthusiasm for visitors.

Among the names outlined in the event programme are Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith, author of the Sharpe novels Bernard Cornwell, politicians Paddy Ashdown and Alan Johnson and mountaineer Chris Bonnington.

Highlights include the highs and lows of writing historical hits from TV writer Julian Fellowes; a premiering event with The Week featuring founders David Weeks and Jon Connell, hosting a live topical debate with a panel of authors; singer-songwriter Julia Gray discussing her new thriller, Little Liar, alongside an acoustic performance; and award-winning author Miranda Seymour discussing what it was like to be the wife or daughter of the brilliant but complex Lord Byron.

The festival also includes the exclusive chance to see the newest exhibit from acclaimed artist and Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year Christian, which is being proudly displayed for the first time.

Now in its fifteenth year, the Althorp Literary Festival plays host to pop-up retail outlets, live performances, and a variety of food and drink vendors offering fine wines, champagne, curated gin, coffee and delicious street food. Visitors can enjoy falconry displays, live poetry readings and more as they take in the scenery of Althorp’s quintessentially English house and gardens.

A new exhibition is also available to view: The Spencers: The History of an English Family. This beautifully thought out, brand new exhibition charts the story of the Spencer family from medieval sheep-farmers, through the dynasty of politicians and strong female figures, to the present day. The vast majority of the items on show are not usually on public view – from great treasures through to intimate family pieces.

Tickets are available to buy at www.althorpliteraryfestival.com Prices range from £12.50 to £20.
