LEADING developer and manufacturer of high performance automotive components, Red Arch Manufacturing Ltd, has been awarded the UK’s highest accolade for business success, the 2016 Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

Northamptonshire-based Red Arch has received the award for International Trade in recognition of the company’s sustained and exceptional export growth exceeding 120% in the last three years.

Red Arch Manufacturing Ltd was supported for business growth by NEP; the company was awarded its first High Performance Technologies (HPT) Research & Development grant in 2013. This was to assist with a new can-based datalogging system and mobile device app to control a motor vehicle exhaust valve via bluetooth.

Following on from the success of its first project, Red Arch applied for a second grant through the HPT programme. The company was successful in securing £40,000 SME Investment Aid to help kit out new premises, allowing it to bring manufacturing in-house.

The Red Arch product portfolio boasts over 400 unique products and worldwide sales of 100,000 parts – from exterior badges to patented Bluetooth controlled exhaust systems. Focusing on new technologies and materials, the company specialises in engine tuning kits, components and exhaust systems for top of the range John Cooper Works MINI and BMW “M” models amongst others.

Exports are primarily to German automotive giant BMW whilst closer to home, Red Arch also supplies UK-based manufacturers including luxury brands, Rolls Royce and Overfinch.

?The greatest accolade

Red Arch Managing Director, Mike Theaker, said: “Winning a Queen’s Award is the greatest accolade any company can receive. We are absolutely delighted and extremely proud. The company’s long-term strategy for investment in new technologies and the development of innovative products and processes has been key. However, without the skill, dedication and hard work of our Daventry-based Design, Development and Production teams, the significant growth we have seen over the last three years would not have been possible.

“Thanks also have to go to HSBC and NEP who provided funding for some of our most important projects, and Loughborough University for our technology partnership.

“We produce extremely high quality, world-leading products for our Original Equipment (OE) customers from our Northamptonshire UK base.  We are particularly proud to be championing British Industry in the heartland of German automotive manufacturing and look forward to continuing to improve and grow the business in the worldwide market.  With new projects and technologies in constant development and continued support from our partners, suppliers and customers, Red Arch’s future looks brighter than ever.”

Tim Bagshaw, Head of Business & Innovation, NEP, said: “To be awarded The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is an outstanding achievement for Red Arch. The company’s forward-thinking and investment in the development of ground-breaking new products with major export appeal has clearly paid off. The award is also further testament to the innovation and ever-increasing success of Northamptonshire’s highly prized HPT sector.”
