Making dreams come true

HARROWDEN Hall, the home of Wellingborough Golf Club, has played host to thousands of people over the centuries and now the venue is encouraging a new wave of visitors to look beyond the boundary wall.

Major investment has transformed the imposing hall – which dates back to the early 1700s and which is set in 160 acres of quiet, secluded gardens – so it can meet the demands of today’s customers planning a corporate or private event at an exclusive venue in a convenient location.

Wellingborough Golf Club offers the perfect solution for those looking to combine business with pleasure.

The wealth of facilities includes the magnificent championship 72-par parkland course and meeting rooms which can meet the needs of a small group or a conference for up to 60 delegates.

High standards are the norm at the golf club which regularly hosts premier PGA and county events and is said to boast one of the best finishing holes, alongside The Belfry and Carnoustie.

The club’s Head PGA Professional David Clifford, who has been in the role for more than 30 years, is a keen believer in embracing modern-day methods while keeping things simple. He works with fellow PGA professional James Whittemore who has a real passion for coaching players of varying ability and experience using modern technology

The club, which has a wide range of membership options, has a well-stocked professional shop and the state-of-the-art GC2 Launch Monitor and Simulation System in the performance and fitting studio offers in-depth analysis of an individual’s play to help their game and select the best equipment.

Many players will be inspired by the parkland views including Harrowden Hall which provides a dramatic backdrop.

Attention to the needs of visitors is a priority. The elegant conference rooms can accommodate a wide range of groups from those looking to hold a small informal meeting to others organising a seminar or conference with up to 60 delegates.. A lift is available, if required, to the first floor and all the rooms have free WiFi and mains sockets. Flip charts, screen and data projectors are available for hire on request.

Managing Director David Waite, who has been overseeing the refurbishment, said: “We are encouraging more people to consider the venue. Many people know we are here but have never actually come through the gates. We are really pleased with the refurbishment which we know will be appreciated by our members and visitors alike.

“First time visitors are often surprised to discover a venue in such a great location with such good facilities. Each room has natural daylight, with large windows overlooking the well-maintained formal gardens or the championship golf course.”

Plans for a dream wedding often start with the challenge of finding the dream venue.

Harrowden Hall, which is licensed for civil marriages and civil partnerships, has already proven to be the place that can help a couple’s dream come true.

The conveniently-located historic hall may be only a few miles from Wellingborough but once visitors enter through the impressive wrought iron gates it feels a world apart.

Impressive views of the immaculately-presented gardens are the perfect setting for weddings which can be for small, intimate groups or up to 200 in the hall’s marquee.

Say ‘I do’ in the Leather Room, with maximum seating for 63, which has wooden panelling and a grand fireplace before moving through to the terrace or dining room. For a larger ceremony the stunning Vaux Room, situated on the first floor, can seat up to 100 people, boasts high ceilings and splendid decor.

The executive chef and his team take the preparation and presentation of food for the wedding very seriously. A range of packages are available or couples can create a bespoke menu to suit the tastes of guests.

“We believe each couple deserves extra-special attention to make their wedding day memorable,” said Managing Director David Waite. “Our team work closely with the couple to ensure they make the most of our wonderful venue.”
