Manufacturer pledges support for disabled racing team

A BRACKLEY automotive business has renewed its support of motorsport’s most inspirational racing team.

ATEC Autotechnic was originally established in Germany, is a leading manufacturer of fluid transfer systems for the automotive industry, supplying parts to clients all over the world.

For the fourth year running, the company has pledged its support of Team BRIT – a racing team aiming to be the first ever all-disabled team to race in Le Mans.

In 2014, UK Manager Jeanne Robinson was introduced to the charity KartForce, which helps injured military veterans access motorsport and soon offered ATEC’s help. Charity founder, Dave Player, then created Team BRIT, providing KartForce drivers with the opportunity to move on to competitive racing.

Originally consisting of injured veterans only, the team has now opened its doors to civilian disabled drivers and has taken on its first civilian rookies. Currently competing in the UK Fun Cup championship, the team is looking to make history by competing in Le Mans by 2020.

It has developed the world’s most advanced hand controls which allow disabled drivers to compete on equal terms with able-bodied drivers.

ATEC Autotechnic will continue its support of KartForce and Team BRIT in 2018, joining a range of sponsors that help keep the team on the race track.

Jeanne Robinson said: “We at ATEC get an enormous sense of pride in being able to support Team BRIT. From the very early days, watching how they have evolved and seeing the number of ex-service personnel they have helped has been incredible.”

Team Founder Dave player said: “We are incredibly grateful to ATEC for the continued support they have offered the team. We are looking to normalise disability and to inspire people with physical and psychological disabilities to try things they never thought possible.

“We’ve come such a long way in our efforts to do this and have a fantastic year ahead. This is only possible through the support of companies such as ATEC who believe in what we’re doing and will help us on our way to making sporting history and creating opportunities for many disabled people.”
