THE Managing Director of a leading Northampton-based PR and marketing firm has told local businesses that there has never been a more important time to ‘engage with the public’.

Ashley Riley, who leads Ashley Riley Communications, was speaking to industry leaders at Northampton Golf Club and explained that as the local, regional and national economy continues to recover from recession there will be new opportunities to do business.

“Economic data is telling us that businesses large and small are feeling more positive as we come towards the final quarter of 2014,” said Ashley

Ashley Riley, who leads Ashley Riley Communications, was speaking to industry leaders at Northampton Golf Club and explained that as the local, regional and national economy continues to recover from recession there will be new opportunities to do business.

“Economic data is telling us that businesses large and small are feeling more positive as we come towards the final quarter of 2014,” said Ashley, whose company has recently moved into new premises at Burlington House in Northampton. “It also means consumers are starting to spend more, so now more than ever it is vital your voice and your business gets heard above your competitors.”

Ashley Riley Communications have reported a successful 2014 after leading a number of successful PR and marketing campaigns for business. This includes the No Toll Tax on Suffolk campaign, which led to the Government reversing its plans to toll the A14, and the FIFA World Cup Wall Chart campaign for local firm Low Energy Consultancy, which worked with firms to reduce their energy costs.

“There is so much choice out there that firms have to know how to win new business,” Ashley continued. “Importantly, it is not about talking about price. If all you talk about is price that is the only issue customers will base their decision on.

“It is about engaging with people, it is about ensuring you are consistent and it is about building trust. That is why companies like John Lewis continue to be so successful even during challenging economic times.

“My top tip for winning new business is simple. Never stop communicating.”
