New sports club for disabled children

HEVEY Building Supplies, the largest independent builders merchant in Northampton, have awarded £2,500 to Sport4Fitness CIC through their Community First Fund, which is managed and facilitated by Northamptonshire Community Foundation.

Sport4Fitness CIC will use their grant to set up a sports club providing the opportunity for the children in Northampton with a disability to partake in multi-sport activities on a fortnightly basis.

The sessions will allow both the parents and siblings of the children to enjoy the activities together.

Mark Flaxman, Company Director at Sport4Fitness CIC said: “Our disability multi-sports club is aimed at all SEN & SEND children to participate in a variety of sports with their families and encourage parents and carers to interact and socialise with their children and other parents and carers. The funding from Northamptonshire Community Foundation and Hevey Building supplies will assist towards the running cost of the sessions, promotion of our club throughout Northamptonshire and allow us to invest further towards equipment to offer more sports and activities for the participants.”

The sports that will be offered at the club include soft tennis, badminton, tchoukball, French bowls, soft skittles, frisbee golf and archery.

Mark Mulvey, Director of Hevey Building Supplies said: “We support a number of sports both amateur and elite in the local area. Our Hevey building supplies community first fund was set up to offer financial assistance to support groups with initiatives to encourage people who do not normally partake in sport to get involved.

Sport4fitness provides everything our fund is set up for namely a range of sports affordable to all irrespective of ability, age, gender or background. We welcome applications for our funds assistance from groups who can provide any of these aims.”
