Olympiad triumphs

RSC Chemistry Olympiad is a national competition for the most able chemistry students. The competition consists of a gruelling two hour written exam in which students apply their A-level Chemistry knowledge to unfamiliar and complex scenarios. Certificates are awarded to those students scoring highly relative to the other entrants – Gold (top 7.9%), Silver (top 34.5%), or Bronze (top 62.2%).?

5,822 students participated in Round 1 of the RSC Chemistry Olympiad 2016. The test is graded out of 100, for a bronze certificate students had to achieve 18-25 marks, for silver 26-40 marks and gold 41+ marks. Approximately 44% of entries received were from A2 students, with a small number (0.5%) of AS students participating.

A total of 11 Bosworth students took part in the competition this year, eight A2 students and 3 AS students. Nine of our students were awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze Certificates. These are as follows:

Gold Certificate: Trung Kien Nguyen

Silver Certificates: Masem Abbas, Ho Sze (Joy) Nip, Chisom (Debbie) Ifeobu and Kelvin Wei Cheng Choo (AS)

Bronze Certificates: Eniola Ayodele, Minh Quang Dang (AS), Olere (Olivia) Orbih and Pako Tuduetso Motsomi

Well done to our Chemists for their efforts, dedication and achievements!
